Located at Camino de la Almazara nº 3 and along the Palmeral Route and Trail (PR-CV 43), the house and l’Hort dels Ponts recreate the traditional way of life of our ancestors. The network of irrigation channels, the cultivation of vegetable plants and fruit trees, and the historic house with furniture over a century old immerse you in the daily activity of an orchard in production among palm trees.
The residence, built in 1900 and later expanded westward to meet the needs of the estate, has a total area of 501.45 m². Its location and internal layout reflect the characteristic habitat of the Elche palm grove, declared a World Heritage Site in 2000.
Restored between 2022 and 2023, it has been renovated using traditional architectural materials typical of this kind of dwelling. Thus, we can see beams and joists in the porch made of palm wood, as well as the reed framework supporting the double-sloped tiled roof. The building, originally rectangular, features a south-facing entrance and a courtyard at the northern end. For its musealization, the interior has been left open-plan. Inside, you can find rooms such as the bedroom, with an iron bed, cradle, and washstand; the dining room, with sideboards, crockery, and a Sinai water filter; a kitchen-hearth with utensils for food preparation; a courtyard-stable with a small lemon tree and cages for songbirds; a pantry, where food was stored and a dough trough for bread-making is displayed; a small stable with a manger made of brick and palm wood; and the storage room, containing the cart, agricultural and livestock tools, and various plant fibers.
