Last summer, the Pusol Project and the Elche Acoge Foundation signed a framework agreement, with the aim of initiating conversations for future collaborations in social projects. Recently, the technicians of the Pusol Project and Elche Acoge resumed the meetings and began to manage the activity called “Pusol Acoge. Traditional culture and local heritage as tools for integration and coexistence”.
At the end of November 2021, the "la Caixa" Foundation granted its support to this project within the initiatives of "Interculturality and social action 2021", granting the Pusol Project a total of €17,510.
“Pusol Acoge” will run throughout 2022 and will consist of using heritage as a tool for union between the different cultures that inhabit the city, in order to contribute to their knowledge and integration. The project proposes a program of actions (workshops, visits, exhibitions...) to be carried out together with the immigrant citizens residing in the municipality, users of Elche Acoge, in order to generate the union between their cultures and that of the territory they inhabit, that of our city.
The involvement of volunteers in the development of this initiative - from the students and teachers of the College of Puçol to the neighborhood of the district - will contribute to building a plural and inclusive society. “Pusol Acoge” is an innovative initiative insofar as it relates a community project such as the School Museum with the new inhabitants who have arrived in the city, being in a position to establish a powerful cultural and social synergy.
