Make our (your) Project known

Making known what is done every day is of transcendental importance, especially when we talk about an educational and museum project like ours, whose progress and vitality, ultimately, are due to society. We have to be able to repay people for their generosity and thank them for their commitment to us, which is why we educate, conserve and display their objects and knowledge, their heritage, in order to contribute, to the extent of our means, to building a world better.

We also put in writing what we do; we tell it and expose it in forums and events. In the last year and a half, after the confinement to which, like all of us, we were subjected, the Pusol Project team has published numerous articles and other texts in various media, in which different aspects of our everyday operation. All this carried out together with exhibitions, workshops –thanks to the women of our Association-, talks and presentations –a long dozen of these-, among other activities that will be mentioned later.

In 2020 the following articles were published:

  • «Ethnographic Museums and Territory in the Bajo Segura», in Geographos. Digital magazine for students of Geography and Social Sciences, vol. 11 (University of Alicante).

  • «On ruralities and resistances: the management model of Pusol School Museum (Spain) and the challenges of reciprocal participation between museum and society», in Museum Management and Curatorship, vol. 35.

  • «Poem: The Educational-Museum Project of the School Museum of Puçol (Elx)», in La Rella. Yearbook of the Institute of Regional Studies of Baix Vinalopó, nº 33.

  • «Water and Sustainability. The monumentality of the hydraulic building of the Huerta del Bajo Segura”, in the Bulletin of the Association of Spanish Geographers, nº 84.

In 2021 these were the ones that saw the light:

  • «The educational-museum project of Pusol. A World Heritage Site that studies the memory of the municipality of Elche and its surroundings», in Stuco (Magazine of the Cerralbo Museum), nº 4-5.

  • «Photographs of Palm Sunday in the Pusol School Museum», in the Elche Holy Week Magazine.

  • «The Puçol School Museum (Elx). A unique educational project”, in Visca ¡Viva Berlanga! A history of cinema, catalog of the exhibition held on Berlanga at the Valencian Museum of Illustration and Modernity (Valencia Provincial Council).

  • «The Puçol School Museum (Elche). A model of community management of heritage”, in the volume of proceedings of the V Conference on Museums and Permanent Museum Collections of the Valencian Community.

Soon, the following will appear:

  • «The Pusol School Museum (Elche). An example of good heritage safeguarding practices» (collective book published by Editorial Trea).

  • «The Traditional Culture Center - Pusol School Museum (Elche). An Educational Project – Universal Museology”, in Anales (magazine of the Royal Academy of Valencian Culture).

  • «Industrial Heritage in Elche: the Puçol School Museum and the Industrializarte Project», in the volume of proceedings of the I Conference on Industrial Heritage. (Juan Gil-Albert Alicante Institute of Culture, Alicante Provincial Council).

  • «The culture of food. Gastronomic heritage of societies in the process of change and its dissemination”, in the volume of proceedings of the Third International Congress on Food Heritage and Museums (Polytechnic University of Valencia).

  • «The Pusol Project. An educational and heritage experience in the Campo de Elche”, in La Tarasca. Magazine of the Federation of Associations of Choirs and Dances of Spain, of Cieza (Murcia).

  • «The Pusol Project. A pedagogical experience and a School Museum for all humanity”, in Ilicitano Ausente (magazine published by the Venida de la Virgen Society).

  • «Holy Week in the Pusol Project», in the Elche Holy Week Magazine.

Along with the above, a column has been published in the press (Information newspaper, April 20, 2021), a bibliographical review in La Rella (nº 34) and sixty-two texts in the blog of the School Museum (all of them, as mentioned, since it reopened its doors in June 2020).

In addition, the Pusol Project has uploaded to this website a publication beautifully laid out by Chelo Pérez, who has compiled by theme the first hundred texts that have appeared on our blog, since its launch in the fall of 2018. On the other hand, in the fall 2021, a volume has appeared that collects the papers presented at the Heritage Meeting held in Elche in 2019, an event organized by the Pusol Project, with the invaluable help of our City Council and Tourism of the Generalitat Valenciana. These minutes have come to light thanks to a subsidy granted to us by the Diputación de Alicante. We regret not having been able to publish our main means of dissemination, the magazine El Setiet, at this time, something that we hope to be able to do shortly.

As for the exhibitions -an essential means of communication for any museum-, since we returned from confinement, Pusol has produced five:

  • Ajuria. Pioneers of mechanization.

  • Film posters at the Puçol School Museum (it was exhibited at the Las Clarisas Cultural Center and the l'Aljub Shopping Center).

  • Country woman. The invisible job.

  • Els Blancs. A day for the evening at the Camp d'Elx.

  • Calleja. Not just stories.

On the other hand, the Museum has produced some simple monthly exhibitions on various themes, which until the moment of writing these lines are the following: the centenary of the magazine Pulgarcito, the Elche festivities, the return to school and the child labour. In addition, pieces have been lent to other entities, such as the Festive Association of Moors and Christians (Elche), the Mayor Board of Brotherhoods and Brotherhoods of Holy Week (Elche), the Royal Order of the Lady of Elche or the Valencian Museum of the Illustration and Modernity (Valencia). All this, apart from the school dynamics itself -as is known, the main activity of our Project- and the daily management of the entity.

We can only thank the support that all these activities have received and receive from society, from all of you, who are the ones who help us continue and make it possible for all this to be worthwhile.
