While the technicians of the museum continue day after day, week after week, with the internal work of cataloging -inventoried, photographed, piece conditioning and/or storage of the collections-, it is inevitable to look at certain elements. On this occasion, the topic is of magazines and covers as striking as those illustrated in this article.
"Nuevo Mundo" is an illustrated magazine that was published between 1894 and 1933, considered one of the most important in Spain at the time. It suffered a split since 1911, when one of its founding journalists died, thus emerging "Mundo Gráfico", publication that was active until 1938.
These publications (especially the first, "New World") began a new class of magazines, the illustrated ones, where more than half of the content were images, photographs, cartoons, cartoons... Hence its popularity. On the other side were the most classic publications of the type "La Ilustración Española y Americana", with more text and engravings as the only extra element.
The illustrations were completed with all kinds of articles (fashion, sports, travel, politics, criticism, news, etc.) and with advertising.
Very striking are its covers. The "New World" used to be full-color illustrations, while the "Graphic World" were starring famous people of the moment, such as actresses and/or bullfighters.
