A step by step restoration
This restoration work aims to achieve the optimal conservation of the sheets with minimal interference in their aesthetic appreciation. To do this, the intervention will follow the following steps:
1. Consolidation of the support.
2. Mechanical cleaning and removal of remnants of previous repairs. At this point, the removal and/or replacement of the rear fabric shall be assessed.
3. Deacidification, provided that the medium so requires and the state of preservation of the inks so permits.
4. Performing grafts and repairing tears.
5. Removal of folds and deformations.
6. Chromatic reintegration, only where visual continuity is necessary.
7. Provide the foils with an individual storage system suitable for preservation, handling and exposure.
In this adventure we will be accompanied by Eva Mendiola and Fátima Amorós, conservation team with more than 25 years of experience. Eva Mendiola has a degree in Fine Arts with the specialty of conservation and restoration of cultural property. He has written, coordinated and developed various restoration projects for museums. In graphic work and document works in collaboration with Fátima Amorós, restorer specialist in the field and teacher in numerous courses, workshops and seminars.
