The Puçol Project will publish a catalog on agricultural and livestock tools preserved in the Puçol School Museum

The inventory of these collections, work that has taken months and has been financed by the Excma. Provincial Council of Alicante, will result in a book

At the beginning of each year, Puçol presents a research project to the Alicante Provincial Council, whose execution period is adjusted to the months of the current year. In 2022, the work focused on the recovery of the oral memory of residents of Puçol and neighboring districts, the result being the publication of a book. In 2023, the project has focused on the collections of the School Museum, particularly those that arrived at the museum in its early days: agricultural and livestock tools.

Since last April, Puçol's team has been working full days in the museum's warehouses, in order to select, photograph and relocate the collections; and also - where appropriate - apply preventive conservation treatments and update their cataloguing. The final objective has been to carry out research, based on our pieces, on ancient agricultural and livestock uses and works.

The result, as in the previous project subsidized by the Provincial Council, will be the publication of a catalogue, in which 112 pieces appear, of the total of 206 that have been treated in this work. A profusely illustrated book both with old photographs preserved in the museum, as well as with images of some of the emblematic pieces related to farming, threshing, beekeeping, livestock, palm tree work, hemp work, etc. The first catalog of these characteristics published in the municipality of Elche.

The objective of this project has been to investigate, safeguard, promote and disseminate the movable heritage of the area under study. And what better way to do it than through an informative publication accessible to all types of readers.

Once again, we thank the Alicante Provincial Council for the unconditional support it has always shown to the Puçol Project and its initiatives, based on research, dissemination, education and the conservation of our heritage.
