As every year, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) has established the theme for International Museum Day, officially celebrated today, May 18, 2026: “Museums Uniting a Divided World.”
For this reason, the Puçol Project organized a private activity this morning with students from the Puçol School. On a large, old-fashioned world map, with continents and countries slightly divided, the students (from preschool to sixth grade) were asked to place museums of archaeology, history, and anthropology around the globe. Then, using hemp twine, these museums were connected and interwoven. Finally, hearts were created—also with hemp twine—across the map, interwoven with the museums from different parts of the world. Uniting cultures, uniting heritage, countries, societies… because museums unite the world.
The work resulting from DIM will be on display in the reception area of the Puçol School Museum during the next few days, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday; and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekends.
